Vibrant Energy targets St. James with $1 billion FESCO service station project

Vibrant Energy, a new player in Jamaica's service station market, is moving ahead with a one-billion-dollar development in St. James.
The company says the project will deliver a modern service station operating under the Future Energy Source Company, FESCO, brand. Stephen Gooden, a director of Vibrant Energy, said the investment should provide work both while the site is being built and after it opens.
Gooden said the company expects more than 100 people to be employed collectively once operations begin, while the development should also bring business to nearby enterprises and serve both residents and visitors.
The St. James project is scheduled for completion within 16 months. Vibrant Energy says the site will include five fuel pumps, a sizeable convenience store, two quick-service restaurants, one of them with a drive-through, and an area reserved for a pharmacy.
The investment adds to the growth of the FESCO-branded network in Jamaica. Two more locations are already being prepared for the Corporate Area, and Gooden said those developments, together with the St. James site, would amount to nearly four billion dollars in investment as the company works towards a national footprint.
