Vybz Kartel Reunites With Daughter Amani After Years Apart

Vybz Kartel has finally spent time face to face with his daughter Amani, almost two years after he was freed from prison.
The dancehall artiste posted about the meeting on Instagram on Thursday, May 21, sharing an image of himself with Amani outside by a pool area bordered by palm trees. In the photograph, Amani is seen close to her father, wearing a pink striped top, jeans and black glasses.
“Words could never fully express how happy I felt in this moment,” Kartel wrote. “Since the day before yesterday, meeting my daughter Amani for the very first time has filled my heart in ways I can’t even explain.”
Kartel, 50, had not previously met Amani because he was behind bars from September 2011 until his conviction was quashed in 2024. Amani is now approximately 15 years old.
He also admitted that the encounter affected him in a way he did not expect. “I never thought a woman could make me nervous… but standing beside my daughter for the first time humbled me deeply,” he wrote. “Life has a way of reminding you what truly matters, and moments like these make everything feel bigger than yourself.”
Kartel ended the caption by referring to God’s timing and added the hashtags #GodistheGreatest and #GodandTime.
The post followed a brief video he had shared days earlier featuring himself with Amani’s mother, Amanda.
Amanda had been mentioned publicly in 2021 by producer and former Head Concussion Records affiliate Crime Minister, who said he and Kartel had a child with the same woman. He did not give her name, but said she had moved to Canada with her two daughters and commended her parenting. “Mumma is doing a very wonderful job now,” he said then, adding that she was raising “two beautiful daughter.”
Kartel first presented Amani to the public in 2016, while still incarcerated, when he uploaded her photo to Instagram to address claims that he had a third daughter. “My next princess Amani,” he wrote at the time, also noting that they had “never met.”
Altogether, Kartel has seven children with five women: five sons and two daughters. He has referred to that family arrangement in songs such as Man Straight, released in 2014, and Family, released in 2015.
Three of his sons, Jaheim ‘Likkle Vybz’, Akheel ‘Likkle Addi’, and Aiko ‘World Boss Jr.’ Palmer, are with his former wife, businesswoman Tanesha ‘Shorty’ Johnson. In his 2020 song About Us, Kartel mentioned his son Shahiem, who lives in Brooklyn, New York. His fifth son is Kahieme.
Kartel’s elder daughter is Adi’Anna ‘Girl Boss’ Palmer, whom he shares with businesswoman Sherika Todd.
