Dancehall heavyweights Mavado and Vybz Kartel team up once again

Dancehall king Vybz Kartel unveiled the full tracklist on Monday for his forthcoming 14-track album God and Time, set for release on Friday, June 5. Among the major collaborations revealed is “Hype Life (Remix)” featuring fellow dancehall giant Mavado. The original track, produced by Droptop Records, was released earlier this year.

The collaboration marks another chapter in one of dancehall’s most iconic rivalries and reunions. It follows previous collaborations “Sunrise” from 2006 and “Happiest Days” from 2007 on the Laminated Riddim, before the pair’s rivalry evolved into the era-defining Gaza vs. Gully movement. More recently, the two reunited on DJ Khaled’s 2025 single “You Remind Me.” Their latest collaboration arrives ahead of Reggae Sumfest, where both artistes are expected to headline later this summer.

Other collaborations on God and Time include Nigerian superstar Wizkid on “Stay For The Night.” Wizkid appeared as a surprise guest during the Worl’ Boss’ concert at London’s O2 Arena last year. The track marks their second collaboration following 2017’s “Wine To The Top,” which has amassed more than 64 million YouTube views to date.

Meanwhile, reigning Queen of Dancehall Spice joins Kartel on “Confession,” marking their first collaboration in seven years following hits such as “Romping Shop,“Conjugal Visit,” and 2019’s “Back Way.” Skillibeng also appears on “Try Again,” marking his fourth collaboration with Kartel after “The King and the Prince,” “Bad Gyal” featuring Tommy Lee Sparta, and “New Gears Remix,” which has amassed over 7.5 million YouTube views.

Latin Grammy-winning reggaeton star Farruko is also featured on “Casi Casi,” while the LP includes the previously released single “Panic” featuring Shenseea, which recently surpassed 11 million YouTube views. The album also includes the previously released title track “God and Time.”

“I love the well-roundedness of this album, and the features reflect that,” Kartel shared in the official statement. “We wanted to give people a little bit of every vibe they want to hear this summer. No matter what mood you are in, there is something on here for you. And as you can see, some of the collaborations could only come together through God and Time.”

God and Time is expected to be eligible for Grammy consideration, with Kartel aiming to secure another nomination in the Best Reggae Album category following his previously nominated projects Party With Me and Heart & Soul. Both albums marked the deejay’s first-ever Grammy nominations, with Party With Me arriving around the time of his release from prison and Heart & Soul continuing his acclaimed return run.
