Washington and Tehran Sign 14-Point Framework to Sustain Ceasefire and Pursue Lasting Peace
Washington and Tehran have signed a 14-point Memorandum of Understanding aimed at keeping the ceasefire in force, restoring passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and building toward a durable settlement.
The framework calls for halting military operations, reopening maritime routes, relaxing sanctions, releasing Iran's frozen funds abroad, and backing economic reconstruction.
Iran has committed not to seek nuclear weapons, and both governments will work with international monitors to oversee and manage its enriched uranium stockpile.
Officials expect negotiators to hammer out a definitive agreement within 60 days, after which the outcome would be locked in through a binding United Nations Security Council resolution.
