West Indies seal seven-wicket ODI opener win over New Zealand in Guyana
West Indies opened their five-match ODI series against New Zealand with a commanding seven-wicket triumph in Guyana, thanks to an unbroken partnership between Shai Hope and Keacy Carty.
Hope finished not out on 87 and Carty struck 95 as the pair added 131 for the hosts, who reached the target of 268 with seven deliveries remaining.
New Zealand had earlier posted 267. Debutant Vitel Lawes took three wickets as the visitors stumbled late, helping the home side keep the total within reach.
The result puts West Indies ahead 1-0 in the series.
