West Indies Women Claim Evara T20I Series On Net Run Rate After Ireland Rainout

1 min read

West Indies Women were confirmed as Evara Tri-Nation T20I Series champions after Ireland Women’s last fixture against Pakistan Women in Ireland could not be completed because of rain.

The Caribbean side and Ireland Women both ended with 10 points, each recording two wins, one defeat and one no-result. The title, however, went to West Indies Women because their net run rate stood at 1.839, well ahead of Ireland’s -1.171.

West Indies Women opened the tournament in fine form, getting past both Ireland Women and Pakistan Women in their first two outings. They then suffered a one-run defeat to Ireland under the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern system, before rain also prevented play in their fourth match against Pakistan.

Ireland Women would have taken the series by beating Pakistan Women in their closing game, but steady rain at Castle Avenue forced that contest to be called off. Pakistan Women ended last, with no victories, two defeats and two no-results.

The result should give West Indies Women a lift before the Women’s T20 World Cup, which begins June 12. They start their campaign against New Zealand Women on June 13.
