Westmoreland farmer faces motor vehicle larceny charge after June 20 bike theft

Westmoreland Police Division detectives have brought a charge of motor vehicle larceny against Davion Bailey, 32, a farmer from Amity District in Westmoreland, over an episode that occurred on Saturday, June 20.

According to accounts from the Savanna-la-Mar Police, around 7:00 a.m. Bailey is said to have arrived at the complainant's residence and sought to borrow a motorcycle worth roughly J$100,000. The owner declined that request but agreed to take Bailey where he needed to go.

Police further indicate that the two paused somewhere on the route. While the complainant was not with the motorcycle, Bailey is alleged to have started it and left the scene on the bike.

Authorities were notified and opened an inquiry. Bailey was later taken into custody and formally charged. Officials are still setting his court appearance.
