The resumption follows a period of temporary relocation after the courthouse sustained significant damage from Hurricane Melissa, which affected the roofing and other sections of the building. Director of Client Services, Communications and Information, Mrs. Kadiesh Jarrett - Fletcher , confirmed that all necessary renovations have been completed, with the Court A dministration Division (CAD) covering the full cost of repairs . “ Families are now able to continue accessing justice in a more stable and accommodating environment, as we return to our primary location fully prepared to meet the needs of the public. The Court Administration Division (CAD) fully funded the necessary repa irs, ensuring the timely and efficient restoration of services. This investment not only reinforces the Judiciary’s commitment to maintaining uninterrupted access to justice but also strengthens the overall courtroom stock within the parish. The facility now provides additional capacity, allowing the Parish Court to utilise the space when the need arises, thereby enhancing operational flexibility. It demonstrates that the Judiciary remains responsive, resilient, and firmly committed to serving the people, even in the face of significant challenges , ” s he stated . For the remainder of this week, today (March 23), tomorrow (March 24), and Thursday (March 26) , cases will be heard at the Rose Street location . The Court will have its t wo final sittings in
2 | Whithorn on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, and Friday, March 27, 2026 , ahead of the full reopening. The Westmoreland Parish Court , which has been operating from the Whithorn Outstation, will continue to function from that location. The reopening marks a major step in restoring full judicial services and improving access to justice for citizens across Westmoreland. Members of the public are encouraged to take note of the updated arrangements to ensure seamless access to court services.
