A Westmoreland teenager was killed Wednesday morning after the motorcycle he was operating collided with a cow on the Petersfield main road.

The deceased has been named as 18-year-old Finardo Whitlock of Logwood Return in Westmoreland. His passenger, who is a minor, was taken to hospital and admitted.

The report said Whitlock and the pillion rider were travelling towards Savanna-la-Mar when they reached the area of Petersfield Primary School. A white cow then moved into the motorcycle’s path.

The bike struck the animal, throwing both riders onto the roadway. Persons passing the scene helped to take them to hospital, where Whitlock was pronounced dead and the minor remained under medical care.
