Sinner stops Djokovic again to reach second Wimbledon final

Reigning Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner has booked his place in this year’s men’s final after stopping Novak Djokovic’s push for a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam singles crown.

The top-ranked Italian turned in a commanding display to beat the Serbian for a second consecutive year at the same stage of the grass-court event. The result also ended Djokovic’s hopes of drawing level with Roger Federer on eight Wimbledon men’s singles titles.

Sinner controlled the rhythm from start to finish, allowing Djokovic only a single break-point chance deep in the third set. The 39-year-old could not convert; Sinner answered with an ace and closed out a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win without dropping a set.

Victory marked Sinner’s 99th success at a major tournament and made him the first Italian man to contest more than one Wimbledon singles final. He next takes on Alexander Zverev for the title.

Djokovic, meanwhile, remains one short of Margaret Court’s overall record for major singles titles and will continue his search for a 25th Grand Slam championship.
