Three Central Village Residents Charged After Woman Threatened With Firearms En Route to Police Station

1 min readSt. Catherine

Three people from Central Village, St Catherine, have been charged after a woman on her way to lodge a complaint about an ongoing dispute was allegedly stopped and threatened with firearms.

Nakadia Wedderman, 22, of Central Village, and Damani Brown, 27, and Shamar Brown, 30, both of Big Lane in the same community, face counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and assault at common law. Police laid the charges on Thursday, July 9.

Investigators say that around 1 p.m. on July 6, the complainant was walking toward the Central Village Police Station to file a formal report over a matter involving Wedderman, with whom she had been at odds before. Before she reached the station, police allege, the accused confronted her.

The two men are said to have pulled up in a motor vehicle, aimed firearms at the woman and issued threats before leaving the scene with Wedderman. She later went to police and recounted what happened, setting off an inquiry that led to the trio being identified, taken into custody and formally charged. Arrangements for a court appearance are still being made.
