World Cup Opening Ceremonies Bring Major Music Stars To Mexico, Canada And US
The international football competition opened today with three major ceremony lineups staged in Mexico, Canada and the United States.
The launch blended football with music as Shakira, J Balvin, BLACKPINK’s LISA, Katy Perry, Tyla, Alanis Morissette, Anitta, Michael Bublé, Alessia Cara and other artistes were listed among the performers.
In Mexico, Shakira and Burna Boy headed the programme at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. Canada’s celebration placed Bublé and Morissette at the front of the bill at BMO Field, which has been temporarily renamed Toronto Stadium.
Katy Perry leads the Los Angeles ceremony at SoFi Stadium before Team USA’s opening match against Paraguay.
Attention will next turn to New York on July 19 for the first World Cup halftime show, with Madonna, BTS and Shakira leading that event.
