Wray & Nephew stages six Jamaica watch parties as football knockout action heats up
With anticipation building around the world's top football tournament, Wray & Nephew Overproof Rum is lining up spaces for supporters across Jamaica to gather and enjoy the games together.
For July, the company has put together a run of watch parties designed to mix live football with entertainment, food and the kind of camaraderie that shapes a strong match-day lime. In all, six events are scheduled at selected venues across the island, giving patrons a lively setting for major fixtures.
The host locations are The Pub Bar & Grill, Summit and D’Lux Restaurant & Gaming Lounge in Kingston; Murray’s and The Wharf Estate in Clarendon; QQ Gaming Lounge in Westmoreland; and Beer Grillz Sports Bar in Portmore, St Catherine.
The events are set for July 9, 10, 11, 14, 15 and 19, matching up with key games in the tournament's knockout round.
The watch-party rollout sits under Wray & Nephew's wider 'Jamaica Wins the World' campaign and also supports the brand's ongoing 'Every Win Needs a Wray' promotion. That promotion gives customers who buy bottles of Wray & Nephew a chance to collect lifestyle prizes, keeping the tournament buzz going beyond the final whistle.
One of the newest winners is 25-year-old Rasheed Byers, who said the call came during what had started as a regular moment. “I was in my mum’s car in front of her house, waiting for my brother, and then I got the call that I had won. He was more excited than even me,” Byers said.
Byers won an iPhone 17, a prize he said matters even more because it will help both him and his brother. “Winning means I get a better phone, and I get to upgrade my brother’s phone. So that’s a win-win,” he explained.
He said although fortune played its part, he was simply glad to come out a winner. With other lifestyle items in the promotion, including recliner chairs, Byers added that he would have welcomed any prize.
“At Wray & Nephew, we know that football is about more than what happens during the 90 minutes. It’s about community, culture and shared moments. Through these watch parties and our consumer promotions, we’re creating opportunities for Jamaicans to celebrate together and be rewarded while doing so,” said Kerry Ann Bryan, brand manager of Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum.
The company is encouraging customers to stop by the participating venues, watch the matches responsibly and make use of chances to win through the Every Win Needs a Wray promotion throughout July.
