Yaksta joins Bellwetha on new dancehall single Farmer and The Banger

1 min readSt. Catherine

Dancehall followers are reacting after Yaksta joined forces with emerging act Bellwetha on the fresh release Farmer and The Banger.

The pairing lands as Yaksta, long known for blunt public commentary, continues to draw heat online and among peers over remarks he made about what he called damaging habits in reggae. Against that backdrop, the two have cut a record that Bellwetha frames as a celebration of grind, grit, and putting in effort.

“We are just showcasing our creativity by merging two topics that the typical person would not envision in the same sentence. This proves my point that the song is really about hustling and hardwork. In anything you are doing in life you must put in the work,” said Bellwetha.

Bellwetha hails from Spanish Town in St Catherine. He first gained notice as a teen under the name Dadda before adopting Bellwetha as an adult. Yaksta, from St Mary, broke through in 2021 with Ambition, a hit that praised farming life.

Bell Bell Entertainment and Copper Records brought the artists together on the project. Bellwetha has also been flooding the circuit with other material, including four video clips rolled out across the last fortnight that are circulating online and in communities islandwide.

Near-term, he aims to lock down the domestic dancehall scene; further out, he wants worldwide recognition. He is presently pushing Authentic, Million Dolla, God System, Pretty Gyal, Prove, and the Yaksta team-up Farmer And The Banger.
