Never Despair因伤缺阵16个月后在Caymanas Park复出夺冠

如今，让纯血马在短暂休整后复出并具备争胜能力已相当常见，但让一匹离开赛场半年或更久的马成功复出，仍是一项难度大得多的任务。Peter-John Parsard于2026年6月7日星期日在Caymanas Park凭Never Despair完成了这一挑战。

这匹四岁枣色小公马此前因伤休赛16个月，伤势严重到一度令其职业生涯前景成疑。复出首战，它便立即证明自己，在四弗隆、即800米的处女马条件赛中轻松取胜。

在Jemar Jackson策骑下，Never Despair出闸利落，并很好地经受住了复出考验，以1又1/4马位优势、49.4的成绩获胜。由Richie Shakes策骑的Moonlight Song获得第二，Super Storm与Bebeto Harvey分列其后。

对Parsard而言，这一结果的意义超过普通的首胜。它证明，漫长的康复过程以及马主愿意等待，都是值得的。

“He hasn’t raced in about a year and a half,” Parsard透露。“He was a really talented horse. We had big hopes for him for the Classics last year but unfortunately he got a really bad injury. It took us a lot of time and it took the owners a lot of patience to be able to get over the ailments that he had. Thank God he is fully healthy,” Parsard告诉Jamaica Observer旗下的The Supreme Racing Guide。

Parsard还强调了Jackson在这匹小公马复出过程中发挥的作用，并指出这名骑师的贡献早在比赛日之前就已开始。“Credit to the jockey, he rode a good race here. But he has been working the horse diligently for about six months. I was very glad to see him able to get the job done on him,”他说。

这名练马师表示，Never Despair仍未达到最佳状态，尽管这匹小公马凭借自身级数和备战情况足以应付这项任务。“The horse ran beautifully. He was short of work and so we are hoping that he will have a little more scope and we will see what he can turn into. I was fairly confident that he was going to win the race. I knew he was going to be a little short in the end but thankfully he was able to get the job done,” Parsard指出。

Never Despair接下来将升入未赢两场马组别。Parsard并未对其前景作过高预期，称其为一匹条件赛马，但预计只要保持健康，它会有实用表现。

“I mean, he is what he is, he is a condition horse and so I don’t think he has a very high ceiling. But I am sure he will be able to stay sound and win a lot of races,”他表示。
