Husband sought in American wife's killing surrenders in St. Mary
Dean Watson, who had been sought since 29 April in connection with the death of his American wife Melissa Samna, gave himself up to the police in St. Mary on Sunday.
Watson is a person of interest in the killing. A relative contacted law enforcement, and officers went to Gayle, where he was handed over. He is now held in St. James and is expected to be questioned soon with his lawyer present.
Authorities say Watson left Samna in a wheelchair at Cornwall Regional Hospital. Staff found her unconscious; she was already dead. An autopsy is reported to have found multiple blunt-force injuries to her head as the cause of death.
In a separate matter, concern is mounting in Port Royal over two local men who left Jamaica more than a week ago to deliver a boat to the United States and have not been heard from since.
Ruben Bajoe and Tariq Ricketts were identified by relatives, who say it is out of character for them to go silent. One family member said they could not reach the men by phone and had received no word on their whereabouts.
The relative said he checked with the coast guard and was told the vessel involved was not the boat associated with Mickey and Skippy. The employer also contacted Cuban officials, who reportedly sent a message that they were aware of the situation, were watching for developments, and would pass on any information.
When the family member spoke to the boat owner, the owner said he had been in touch with police and marine authorities in The Bahamas and that a search was under way. The relative said he had heard nothing further from that contact.
