JWPL semi-finals open with Arnett–Perfectos clash and Real Mona test against Frazsiers Whip

The opening legs of the Jamaica Women’s Premier League (JWPL) semi-finals begin this afternoon with a double header at the Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence (CHBCOE). Arnett Gardens face Los Perfectos in the first fixture, while Real Mona take on three-time defending champions Frazsiers Whip in the second.
Arnett open the programme against Los Perfectos at 3 p.m. Real Mona follow at 5 p.m., aiming to seize an early edge against the reigning title holders.
Arnett reached the last four after going unbeaten through Zone A, finishing first with 28 points. Real Mona edged into second on the final day of the regular season with 17 points.
Frazsiers Whip again dominated the top division, closing Zone B on 30 points after winning all 10 of their closing matches in succession. Los Perfectos held second in that zone with 24 points.
Semi-final one between Arnett and Los Perfectos should be tight, though the Junglists carry a narrow edge on paper. They have the league’s second-highest goal return with 38, ahead of Los Perfectos’ 33, and have leaked only five times compared with 12 for their opponents.
Arnett will lean on Shikira Douglas for goals, with Sade Berry and Suen Gregory expected to support. Los Perfectos will look to veteran striker Venicia Reid up front in what is projected to be her last JWPL campaign.
The evening fixture pits a less seasoned Real Mona side against the champions. Frazsiers Whip arrive as heavy favourites, as they have throughout the season, and will seek to extend their remarkable run in attack and defence. They have 62 goals from 10 matches and have conceded only four—the strongest records in both departments.
Real Mona head coach Neo Oxford said his side will not shrink from the task.
“That’s a team that I love to play. We now have to raise our level, because they will raise their level to play us, I tell you that,” Oxford said ahead of the match.
“I really think that we’re living in the moment right now. So, yes, we have to get back to earth quickly, but we know what it takes,” he continued.
“Frazsiers Whip are a very seasoned team. Give them their due, but we are coming to play.”
