Kingston, St Andrew motorists to clear traffic tickets at July 8-9 court event

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Motorists in Kingston and St Andrew with outstanding traffic tickets will get another opportunity to put their matters before the court when the Judiciary of Jamaica stages its next Traffic Ticket Public Day at the National Arena on Wednesday, July 8 and Thursday, July 9, 2026.

The judiciary describes the two-day sitting as part of a focused push to clear the long-standing pile-up of traffic cases, broaden access to justice, and tighten compliance with the law across the court system.

In a release issued on Tuesday, the judiciary said any driver holding tickets dated between February 1, 2018, and 2026 may take part. Motorists are being urged to sign up and have their cases dealt with in an orderly setting before warrants are executed against them.

Chief Justice Bryan Sykes said the scale of the problem demands coordinated action. "The volume of outstanding matters within Kingston and St Andrew has reached a level that necessitates decisive and coordinated intervention," he said.

He added, "This initiative represents a measured and pragmatic approach to restoring equilibrium within the system, while reinforcing the principle that adherence to the law is mandatory and that breaches must be addressed with due dispatch and procedural integrity."

Registration runs from Tuesday, May 5, 2026, until midnight on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Drivers can sign up by sending their name, tax registration number (TRN) and ticket details to [email protected], or by WhatsApp at 876-453-5060 or 876-453-5242.

The judiciary is also asking motorists to confirm their ticket details ahead of time through the online portal at trafficticketlookup.gov.jm.
