Portland High School Teen in Custody After Fatal Stabbing of Jeremy 'Tarzan' Ferguson
What began as a quarrel behind a public bathroom in Port Antonio turned deadly on Monday afternoon, claiming the life of one man and landing a 15-year-old high school student in the hands of the police.
The deceased has been identified as Jeremy Ferguson, also known as 'Tarzan', who lived in Portland.
Law enforcement officials say the episode occurred just after 4:00 p.m. close to the sanitary convenience facility on Foreshore Road in Port Antonio.
Information reaching investigators indicates that several boys were gambling behind the facility when a dispute erupted.
Sources say three of the boys departed the scene and later came back accompanied by three grown men, Ferguson among them.
Investigators report that the adults then clashed with a 15-year-old pupil from a well-known Portland high school.
Amid the scuffle, the teenager is said to have pulled a knife and stabbed Ferguson.
Ferguson was transported to the Port Antonio Hospital but was later confirmed dead.
The student was arrested shortly afterwards.
Members of the Port Antonio Criminal Investigation Branch have opened enquiries into what triggered the deadly stabbing.
