Arnett Gardens FC and Jamaica Defence Force FC were locked at 0-0 deep into their Popeyes Challenge Cup quarter-final on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Arnett Gardens, Kingston.

The match opened the CVM TV double-header at the venue, with Montego Bay United set to face Jamaica Premier League champions Portmore United in the second game. The Arnett Gardens-JDF winner was due to meet the winner of the Chapelton versus Mount Pleasant tie in the semi-finals.

Arnett, fielding a youthful line-up under coach Philip Williams, had the better of the early openings. Giovani Taylor came closest in the first half when his volley struck the underside of the crossbar before his follow-up header was saved by JDF goalkeeper Ben Morai Gibbs.

JDF, who entered the tie after beating Cavalier 1-0 at Stadium East, carried confidence into the contest. Coach Cecile Storage said before kick-off that his team was physically, mentally, tactically and technically ready to face another Premier League opponent.

Arnett captain Jaden White, formerly of Cavalier, said the knockout format left no space for caution. “Someone has to be eliminated from the competition,” he said, adding that Arnett needed to ensure they advanced.

The first half ended goalless despite Arnett holding more possession and registering the stronger chances. Antonio Mitchell was booked for Arnett in the 29th minute, while a member of the Arnett technical staff was sent off before the interval.

JDF made changes at half-time, including the introduction of Tevin Cheese and Kambunji Makala, and looked more threatening after the break. Shamar Rhoden tested White from a free kick, and JDF later forced the Arnett goalkeeper into a sharp stop from a move that was eventually ruled offside.

Williams also turned to his bench, bringing on Javon Mills, Orlando Grant and later Diamond Clark as Arnett searched for a breakthrough. Taylor, who had Arnett’s best chance of the evening, was substituted in the closing stages with the match still level.

Elsewhere in the quarter-finals, Molynes United came from behind to beat True Juice FC 2-1 at Drax Hall after Elvis Wilson had given True Juice a 25th-minute lead.
