Ocean7 rooftop fills for Mother’s Day lunch and dinner on Kingston waterfront

Ocean7 Rooftop Bar & Grill drew large family groups for Mother’s Day on Sunday, with a tailored menu, complimentary drinks for every woman present, and wide-angle sea views from the roof. The gathering took place at Victoria Pier on Ocean Boulevard, where an upscale meal service sat alongside an easy-going rooftop mood; through the afternoon and into the night, people ate seafood plates, beef cuts, mixed drinks and sweets with the Kingston harbour spread out below.

The dining room stayed at capacity for much of the day, and more relatives kept arriving and waiting on seats as the occasion stretched toward nightfall.

Main courses included lemon-butter grilled salmon, shrimp thermidor, stuffed chicken breast with callaloo and cream cheese, sirloin steak with demi-glace, and Hellshire-style whole snapper. Starters such as creamy pumpkin soup and tomato bruschetta, plus sweets including strawberry cheesecake and carrot and nuts rum cake, completed the line-up.

Valencia Provost paused by the water with a festive cake during Ocean7’s rooftop Mother’s Day gathering above the Kingston harbour.

Children ate from a separate list that listed chicken tenders and fries and club sandwiches with fries, so parents could mark the day together while still facing the Kingston shoreline.

Owner Howard James said he appreciated the crowd size and credited the crew for coping with the crush from open to close. “We’re extremely grateful for the support and turnout we received for Mother’s Day,” James said. “The restaurant was full from early and families just kept coming in, but our team worked hard to manage the demand and ensure guests still received quality service and a memorable experience. At Ocean7, we remain committed to delivering good food, good service, and an atmosphere people can truly enjoy.”

Women received complimentary drinks on arrival, and the house “casually elegant” clothing guideline helped shape the tone. Several visitors used the height of the roof to snap pictures above the water while they ate.

Genieve Austin, who was there with relatives, called the outing calm and fun. “The view and atmosphere really stood out for me,” Austin said. “It felt peaceful, the food was excellent, and it was nice being able to spend quality time with family in such a beautiful setting.”

Across the service, Ocean7 kept a constant stream of tables turning as households met for midday and later sittings. The elevated site, which trades on open-water dining, played up carefully arranged plates and a social-media-friendly look, with fish courses and mixed drinks drawing repeat orders. After dusk, the tone shifted toward a quieter supper mood, with tables holding on over sweets and drinks while the sun dropped behind the Kingston harbour.
