Apprentice Tajay Suckoo Lands Triple Headlined by Hall of Fame Stakes at Caymanas

Apprentice jockey Tajay Suckoo collected three victories on Saturday’s 10-race card at Caymanas Park, with his biggest score coming aboard Desert of Malibu in the $1.5-million Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame Stakes Trophy.

Over 5½ furlongs (1,100m) in Open Allowance company, Desert of Malibu followed California Crown, ridden by Tevin Foster, before striking late to win by a half-length. California Crown stayed on for second, while Don Kwesi, with Demar Williams up, finished third. The race was timed in 1:10.2 (22.3 x 46.0 x 57.4).

Suckoo’s other successes came on Run Julie Run and Mohanlal. Run Julie Run took the $1.25-million Mark My Word Trophy by half a length, completing nine furlongs and 25 yards in 1:52.2 for trainer Peter-John Parsard.

Mohanlal, trained by Richard Azan, won the Wayne DaCosta OD Trophy by two lengths over one mile (1,600m) in 1:37.4.

Racing resumes next Saturday with the Diamond Mile back on the programme.
