St Mary man faces new charges over alleged robbery of another woman he met on dating app
A St Mary man who was earlier this week charged in connection with the alleged rape and robbery of a woman he met through a dating application is now facing additional charges stemming from a separate incident involving another woman he also reportedly met online.
Thirty-three-year-old Demoy Pennington of Tremolsworth district, Highgate, was on Friday charged with larceny by trick and unauthorised access to computer data on allegations that he stole the woman's belongings, including her bank cards, and spent approximately $100,000 in unauthorised transactions.
According to the Constant Spring police, the woman met Pennington through a dating application on Sunday, April 26.
After communicating, the two arranged to meet the following day in Half-Way Tree, the police reported.
The police said that during the outing, Pennington allegedly drove the woman to Temple Hall main road in St. Andrew and stopped at a supermarket, giving her money to purchase bottled water.
It is alleged that while the woman was inside the supermarket, Pennington drove away with her belongings, including two cell phones, approximately $80,000 in cash, bank cards and personal documents.
The woman later discovered that unauthorised transactions totalling approximately $100,000 had been made from her bank accounts using the stolen bank cards, according to the police.
The matter was reported to the police, and an investigation was launched.
Pennington was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
The police said that on Friday, July 3, he was positively identified during an identification parade and formally charged.
His court date is being finalised.
On Tuesday, Pennington was charged in connection with the alleged rape and robbery of a woman whom he met on the dating application Tinder.
The bar operator is charged with forcible abduction, rape and robbery with aggravation.
The police reported that in April 2026, Pennington and the woman met online and continued to communicate.
It is alleged that they decided to meet and did so on the afternoon of June 25 along Hagley Park Road in St. Andrew.
The 43-year-old complainant allegedly boarded the accused's motor car and was reportedly driven to Portmore, St. Catherine.
Along the route, she is said to have made enquiries about his intentions and was threatened by the accused with a handgun.
The woman was allegedly taken to a motel along Port Henderson Road in Portmore, where she was allegedly raped.
After the incident, she was reportedly driven back to the Corporate Area by the accused, who allegedly stole her handbag containing bank cards and a cell phone.
He then drove away and escaped, according to the police.
The woman reported the matter, and the police launched an investigation, resulting in Pennington's arrest.
He was placed on an identification parade and was positively identified by the complainant.
