Port Workers Fined for Stealing Electric Scooters

KINGSTON, Jamaica : Port Workers Fined for Stealing Electric Scooters — Two workers who pleaded guilty to stealing two electric scooters from a warehouse at the Kingston port were each fined $100,000 or sentenced to 30 days’ imprisonment if they fail to pay.

The men, 30-year-old Omarie Biggs and Taja Campbell, appeared before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday, where they admitted to a charge of simple larceny.

According to court records, the incident occurred on February 19, 2026, when surveillance footage allegedly captured the men stealing two black electric scooters and a travel bag containing perishable goods, with the stolen items valued at approximately $100,000.

Biggs was reportedly employed by Kingston Wharves at the time of the incident, while Campbell worked for an independent contractor operating at the port.

Following their guilty pleas, the court imposed fines of $100,000 on each man, with the alternative of serving 30 days in prison if the fines are not paid.
