Dr Herbert Swaby Avenue connects Tower Isle to St Mary north coast highway

Tower Isle in St Mary lies along the Oracabessa to White River Road, the main northern coastal highway that carries traffic east toward Pompano Bay, Rio Nuevo and other communities in the parish.

Drivers moving through the area pass Couples Resorts, an all-inclusive property on the left, and Sapphire Island — also known locally as Nude Island — in the same direction along the coast.

Motorists can leave the highway at Dr Herbert Swaby Avenue, a connector that runs beside Emmanuel United Church on the right. Branches to the right from this stretch also lead toward the Madge Saunders Conference Center and Iona High School.

Anyone who stays on the Oracabessa to White River Road instead continues toward Pompano Bay and Rio Nuevo, an area also called Runaway in St Mary, as well as Stewart Town and Boscobel. Boscobel is home to Ian Fleming International Airport, which serves Oracabessa and nearby settlements.

Dr Herbert Swaby Avenue ends where it meets the coastal road again. From that junction, a left turn points drivers toward Prospect, White River, Ocho Rios and other points west along the corridor. A right turn sends traffic back east along the same coastal route toward Pompano Bay, Rio Nuevo, Stewart Town, Boscobel, the airport and Oracabessa.

The short avenue therefore sits at a key crossroads in Tower Isle, tying the north coast highway to local churches, schools, conference facilities and the wider road network linking resort coastline to the airport and eastern St Mary towns.
