Beryllium says Kingston operations unaffected after South Camp Road garage blast

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Security firm Beryllium says its work sites were not damaged by an explosion and fire that broke out Wednesday morning at a garage next to its South Camp Road compound in Kingston.
The company, in a statement released Wednesday afternoon, said the blast happened on the neighbouring garage property. Beryllium said a vehicle at that location was involved in the explosion and the fire that followed.
Four people sustained injuries and were transported to hospital for treatment. The company said the emergency was limited to the garage and did not affect its own operating facilities.
Beryllium also said there was no blaze inside its building or in any area used for its operations. It added that its continuity arrangements stayed in place and that services were continuing as normal.
The company said its priority has been assisting those affected. According to Beryllium, its human resources and management teams have been helping to coordinate medical care, offering support to employees and maintaining contact with relatives of those injured.
Beryllium thanked emergency personnel for moving quickly to bring the fire under control and limit additional damage. The company said it remains focused on the safety and welfare of its staff while keeping service steady for clients and partners.
