Club MECA Sets Kingston Weekend Shows With Nigy Boy and Birthday Celebrant Serani

Kingston

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Club MECA is preparing for a busy two-night run, bringing live performances and birthday energy to its weekend programme with Nigy Boy and Serani among the featured names.

The schedule opens on Friday with Nigy Boy, one of the newer voices attracting attention in Jamaican music. On Saturday, Serani is slated to headline at the venue, with the occasion also serving as part of his birthday celebration.

Serani said spending his birthday in Jamaica remains important to him and is a custom he plans to continue. “Celebrating my birthday in Jamaica is something I’ve always done,” he said. “Mi fly dung fi celebrate with the people weh me move with. Just to be there with them is the greatest joy.”

The dancehall artiste said coming back to Jamaica brings a feeling he does not get anywhere else. “Before you even land, as soon as the plane gets close to the island, you start feeling the energy. You know, say you’re in your zone. It’s always a joy,” he shared.

He said that same spirit will shape his performance at MECA on Saturday. “It’s going to be Big BBC vibes at MECA,” Serani said.

The weekend pairing also brings together an established dancehall name and an emerging act at a time when Jamaican music continues to seek wider listenership overseas. Serani said the bill reflects that movement.

“I’m performing on Saturday and Nigy is performing tonight, so you know MECA will be the place to be,” he said. “Nigy is super talented. Him have it. We’re pushing this music, dancehall music, to the world.”

Nigy Boy’s Friday appearance is expected to attract supporters interested in seeing one of the industry’s quickly rising performers. Saturday’s staging gives patrons an opportunity to mark the occasion with Serani, one of dancehall’s better-known voices.

With both artistes appearing over the weekend, MECA is aiming to stand out in Kingston nightlife as entertainment fans begin easing into the summer season.
