Damoun Lewis sent to restorative justice over father-in-law assault charge

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Damoun Lewis, who faces a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm linked to an alleged attack on his father-in-law, was directed into restorative justice after he appeared on Tuesday in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

Presiding Judge Peter Wilson voiced unease about the claims when the case was heard. He cautioned Lewis against showing contempt toward his father-in-law, stressed that the older man deserved regard as an elder, and asked Lewis which side he thought his partner would take in the quarrel.

Lewis told the court his father-in-law had given him no “respect”. Wilson pressed him to rethink that position and said he doubted restorative justice would settle the rift.

“He looks like he will fight him again,” Wilson remarked, then still sent the file to restorative justice. Lewis must next appear on November 11, 2026.
