Dream Wknd to Generate 'Tremendous Economic Value,' Says Minister Seiveright

State Minister Delano Seiveright says the festival will drive tourism, investment and economic growth as it opens a new chapter in western Jamaica

Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Delano Seiveright has described Dream Wknd as one of Jamaica's most significant homegrown entertainment brands, praising its lasting contribution to tourism, local businesses, and economic growth.

Speaking at the official launch of Dream Wknd 2026 at Pier 1 in Montego Bay, Seiveright commended the organisers for building the festival into a major tourism driver over the past 16 years.

"Dream WKND has become much more than an entertainment event," Seiveright said. "Year after year, it has brought thousands of visitors to Jamaica, creating opportunities for hotels, villas, transportation providers, restaurants, retailers and countless small businesses that benefit from the festival's economic impact."

Seiveright praised Dream Entertainment's decision to relocate this year's staging to Montego Bay following the impact of Hurricane Melissa, calling it a strong vote of confidence in western Jamaica.

"They could have delayed their plans, but instead they remained committed to bringing Dream Wknd to Montego Bay. That decision will generate tremendous economic value for the city and the wider western Jamaica region," he said.

The State Minister noted that the festival arrives during a transformative period for Montego Bay, highlighting major infrastructure projects, the expansion of Sangster International Airport, and continued private investment in hotels across western Jamaica. "As Montego Bay continues to grow, Dream Wknd will play an important role in showcasing the city as a world-class destination for entertainment, tourism and investment," he added.

Dream Wknd 2026 marks the festival's first staging in Montego Bay, opening a new chapter for one of the Caribbean's premier party festivals. The five-day event runs from July 30 to August 3 and features eight events across venues including The Aqueduct, Montego Bay Convention Centre, The Palms at Jewel Grande and Pier 1.
