Grub Cooper for To Mom With Love

Since leaving Fab 5 in 2023, Grub Cooper has kept a low profile. On May 10, he returns to the spotlight as musical director for The Super Band on the To Mom With Love show at AC Hotel Kingston.
The band will back Marcia Griffiths and Nesta, two of the artistes on that show.
The veteran drummer is also scheduled to perform at the event, whose line-up is completed by Third World, American rhythm and blues singer Glenn Jones, and Robert Minott.
Grub Cooper, who also sang with Fab 5 for over 50 years, describes The Super Band as, “A blend of youth and experience.”
Two of its members, keyboardists Robbie Lyn and Chris McDonald, are seasoned musicians, with careers spanning over 50 and 40 years, respectively.
Their bandmates on Sunday are veteran drummer Junior “Bird” Baillie, Jhada Dwyer on guitar, and Chevy Palm on bass. Traci Trae, Amelia King and Krytal Keyz comprise The Super Band’s supporting vocalists.
For Grub Cooper, name-brand bands mean nothing if they do not deliver come showtime.
“As they say in music, coordination must be in the pocket and there has to be chemistry. Each musician has to dedicate time to their homework,” he stated.
From Linstead, St Catherine, Grub Cooper was a co-founder of Fab 5 in 1971. He wrote the band’s biggest hits, including Come Back And Stay, Asking For Love, Ring Road Jam, and All Night Party.
He, however, left the band three years ago, explaining that, “The kind of workload I had [with Fab 5] kept me from achieving a lot of the things I wanted to.”
To Mom With Love will have two shows. The first starts at 1:00 pm and the second at 7:00 pm.
