
Education Ministry backs Munro College after St. Thomas drowning of student Kamal Reynolds
Officials at the Education Ministry have reached out to administrators at Munro College in St. Elizabeth, offering assistance to teachers and pupils after the death of Kamal Reynolds, 16.
According to reports, the teenager drowned at a Yallahs beach in St. Thomas on Wednesday. Recovery of his body took place the next day.
At the time of the fatality, Reynolds was taking part in a Munro College football camp held in St. Thomas.
Ministry officials have asked the school to submit an account of what happened before and after the drowning.
Portfolio Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon said she was heartbroken by news of Reynolds’ death. Extending sympathy to his parents, she stated that the Ministry stands with the family.
Dr. Morris Dixon also indicated that counselling and psychological help will be arranged for the Munro College community as it deals with the trauma.
Investigations are under way by both the marine police and St. Thomas police.
