Search Ends in Tragedy as Body of Munro College Student Is Recovered

ST THOMAS, Jamaica — The body of a 16-year-old Munro College student who went missing while swimming at Shally Beach in St Thomas has been recovered, bringing a two-day search to a tragic end.

The teenager has been identified as Kamal Reynolds, a resident of St Elizabeth.

According to the police, Reynolds was among a group of students swimming at Shally Beach on Wednesday when he reportedly got into difficulties and disappeared beneath the water.

A search operation was launched shortly after the incident but was suspended Wednesday evening due to fading light. The search resumed on Thursday with the assistance of the Marine Police.

Reynolds’ body was recovered off the coast of St Thomas on Thursday, ending the search efforts.

The Yallahs Police, assisted by the Marine Police, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The tragic incident has left family, friends and the Munro College community mourning the loss of the teenager.
