National Works Agency to recruit new CEO
The National Works Agency has started the search for a new Chief Executive Officer, signalling the end of a lengthy leadership tenure by current CEO E.G. Hunter, who has led the agency for approximately 14 years.

The vacancy comes at a time of growing public concern about road conditions and broader infrastructure challenges across the island.

Among those raising concerns recently was St. Andrew North Central MP Delano Seiveright, who described road-related issues as the biggest headache facing residents in his constituency.

Mr Seiveright has publicly criticised what he describes as poor responsiveness from the NWA, noting that the agency failed to attend a packed constituency consultation meeting despite being formally invited.

While acknowledging the challenge of managing Jamaica's more than 27 thousand kilometre road network, Mr Seiveright argues that residents expect stronger accountability, better coordination and faster execution on road repairs and infrastructure works.

The MP has also thrown his support behind Prime Minister Andrew Holness's proposed One Road Authority initiative, saying a more unified approach to road management is urgently needed to improve efficiency and public confidence.

Applications for the NWA CEO position close on June 19.
