Manchester family mourns landscaper Andrew Williams found shot dead near Porus
A Manchester family is reeling after landscaper Andrew Williams was found dead at his home in Trinity district near Porus on Thursday morning, reportedly bearing multiple gunshot wounds.
Williams’s body was discovered about 11:00 a.m., face down with what appeared to be gunshot injuries to his upper body. Relatives say they are struggling to make sense of the killing and the sudden void it has left.
Known affectionately as One Son, Williams belonged to a family of 11. His brother Gerald described him as generous, warm, and devoted to those around him. He was a father of three sons and, Gerald said, the first among the siblings to die in such violent circumstances. Gerald portrayed him as someone who put family first and rarely turned down a request for help.
Their eldest sister, Dorcas, likewise recalled a brother who was a people person—someone who would fetch dry coconut, jelly coconut, naseberry, or whatever else he was asked to bring home. She had often teased him for being unable to say no. The family now rejects what they call a gruesome attack and say the loss is especially hard to bear.
Compounding their grief, the relatives are already arranging a funeral for another family member set for Friday. Amid both burials’ shadow, they say they are drawing on faith. They describe themselves as a Christian, praying household that will stay united, keep hope, and trust God through the tragedy.
One relative said they had long lived with Williams’s illness and never imagined he would die by gunfire. They are left seeking answers while preparing to lay their loved ones to rest.
