PORTLAND, Jamaica — A decomposing body believed to be that of missing 12-year-old Christal McLean was discovered in the Rio Grande at Grants Level, Portland, on Wednesday.
Christal, who lived in Berrydale, Portland, had been reported missing since Friday, June 12. According to police reports, she was last seen at her home around 7:00 a.m. before her disappearance was reported.
Police said that shortly after midday on Wednesday, individuals rafting along the Rio Grande stumbled upon the body and alerted authorities. The remains were reportedly found in an advanced state of decomposition.
Investigators have not yet officially confirmed the identity of the deceased, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
