A member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has died after reportedly becoming ill at his home in Allman Town, Kingston, on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Constable J. Reid, who was assigned to the Area 4 Fugitive Apprehension Team.
According to reports, Constable Reid fell ill at his residence at approximately 4:15 p.m. He was subsequently transported to the Kingston Public Hospital for medical treatment.
However, despite efforts to assist him, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the constable’s death remain unclear, and investigators attached to the Central Police Division have launched a probe into the incident.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force said its Welfare Department has been informed of the officer’s passing. The Police Federation has also been notified.
Further details are expected as investigations continue.
