Ocho Rios Men Deported From St. Kitts Face St. Ann Murder Charges

Two St. Ann men recently sent back to Jamaica from St. Kitts are now before investigators on murder and gun-related allegations arising from the killing of 20-year-old Kimani Lettman in Steer Town more than three years ago.

Police named the accused as Chevon Brown, 31, otherwise called "Balla", a lifeguard, and Kemar Matthews, 37, otherwise called "Bibbi". Both men are from Ocho Rios, St. Ann.

The St. Ann's Bay Police reported that about 2:30 a.m. on February 8, 2023, Lettman and a friend were inside a house when armed men allegedly broke in and shot both occupants. The attackers then left the area on foot.

The injured men were taken to hospital after police were called. Lettman was declared dead, while the second victim received treatment and was later discharged.

During the investigation, detectives determined that the two suspects had left Jamaica for St. Kitts and Nevis. Police said Brown and Matthews were deported to Jamaica on Thursday, May 21, taken into custody, and charged with murder, wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and burglary.

A court date is still being arranged.
