CLARENDON, Jamaica – A 50-year-old construction worker of Brandon Hill District, Clarendon, has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a man during a Sunday evening domino game.
Charged is Shaun Cotterell, otherwise called ‘Bobby’.
Police reports are that about 2:00 pm, Cotterell and the now-deceased, 69-year-old farmer Errol ‘Blacka’ Nelson, were at Nelson’s business place playing dominoes when a dispute developed between them and escalated into a physical altercation.
During the confrontation, Cotterell allegedly used a knife to inflict several stab wounds to Nelson’s body before fleeing the scene.
The police were summoned, and upon their arrival, Nelson’s body was found lying face down along the roadway in a pool of blood. The scene was processed, and the body was later removed to the morgue.
On Sunday, Cotterell turned himself in at the Frankfield Police Station. He was subsequently escorted to the May Pen Police Station, where he was taken into custody on reasonable suspicion of murder.
On Monday, June 29, Cotterell reportedly gave a confession statement to the police and was subsequently charged with murder. His court date is being finalised.
