Holness links Jamaica’s large-event bookings to safer near-shore appeal

1 min readKingston

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness attributed Jamaica’s success in securing bookings for large gatherings to ongoing work against crime and violence, alongside the country’s capacity and venues for hosting international conferences and seminars.

He made the remarks today during the signing ceremony for the Kingston Harbour Walk Project, noting that Jamaica is regarded as a safe near-shore destination.

While acknowledging progress in reducing the murder rate by half, Dr. Holness said the aim remains 15 killings per 100,000 people.
