Old Harbour man faces murder charge after fiancée dies from alleged toxic injection

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica - Police have laid a murder charge against 51-year-old Paul Stephenson, also called "Pablo", after his fiancée allegedly received an injection containing a poisonous substance.

Stephenson, who lives on Sunset Crescent in New Harbour Village I, Old Harbour, St Catherine, was charged in relation to an incident reported at his house on Saturday, May 9.

The woman who died has been identified as 29-year-old Tieah Singh, who was listed with a Francis Avenue address in Clarendon.

According to police reports, Stephenson and Singh were at the Old Harbour property about 10:00 am when they got into a dispute. Investigators allege that during the quarrel he injected her with a toxic substance and also used pepper spray on her face.

Singh fell ill after the incident and was brought to hospital, where she was admitted in serious condition.

Stephenson was subsequently taken into custody and initially charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. After Singh died from her injuries, police upgraded the matter to murder. A court date is still being arranged.
