KINGSTON, Jamaica — Organisers of Reggae Sumfest plan a special salute to the late reggae singer Fantan Mojah at A Taste of Reggae Sumfest on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Plantation Cove in St Ann. The segment will mark the career and influence of a figure long regarded among Jamaica’s leading cultural voices.
Mojah died on July 14. He was 49. Known for championing conscious reggae, he last appeared on the Reggae Sumfest bill in 2025, in a set remembered for its sincerity, drive, and steady message.
Joe Bogdanovich, chief executive of Reggae Sumfest, said the festival values the chance to recognise what Mojah gave to Jamaican music.
“Fantan Mojah was a true soldier for reggae music. His lyrics carried purpose, his performances were heartfelt and his commitment to uplifting people through music never wavered. We are deeply saddened by his passing, and on July 18 we will honour his life, his artistry and the lasting impact he made on reggae and on the Sumfest family. His spirit will forever be part of our stage.”
The remembrance will be woven into the evening’s lineup, giving supporters, other performers, and the broader reggae public space to acknowledge Mojah’s lasting musical imprint.
