Horizon remand centre ganja case: district constable Shemar Williams granted $300,000 bail
A district constable facing allegations that he brought ganja into a correctional facility has been granted bail set at $300,000.
Shemar Williams received the bail offer after his lawyer, Donahue Martin, made an application on his behalf during an appearance at the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Monday.
Williams is before the court on three counts: introducing a prohibited substance into a correctional institution, possession of ganja, and dealing in ganja.
Prosecutors say that on Monday, June 8, he was at the Horizon Adult Remand Centre when officers searched him and reportedly found ganja in his possession. He was charged shortly afterwards.
Williams is next scheduled to appear in court on October 9.
