Popular American YouTube and Twitch streamer IShowSpeed drew massive attention and headlines across Jamaica on Friday, turning his visit to the island into a global spectacle while giving Jamaica major visibility among younger travellers worldwide.

Speed, who typically livestreams his tours on Twitch for his audience of nearly 54 million followers, generated enormous traffic with his Jamaica broadcast, which was also streamed simultaneously on YouTube. The livestream quickly amassed nearly 3.2 million views, outperforming many previous streams that usually took days to reach similar numbers. His Dominican Republic stream currently leads the Caribbean tour with over 7 million views, but with momentum continuing to build, the Jamaica edition is already being viewed as one of the standout moments of the tour.

The American content creator, whose Caribbean tour has sparked widespread online engagement, was spotted at several locations across the island. He was surprised by his father during a stop at KFC in New Kingston and later faced off with the “Jamaican Spiderman” at Tastee. He also visited Port Royal for scuba diving, the National Stadium, the Bob Marley Museum, and Devon House, where he cooked ackee and saltfish alongside Jamaican superstar Shenseea. He later pulled up to a party at Mas Camp, where he spotted enjoyment in the energy and dancehall vibes with entertainer Ding Dong.

The visit also generated reactions from residents and local entertainers, with Jamaican music stars including Beenie Man, Sean Paul, Popcaan, Yaksta, Bayka, and Gyptian all contributing to the online buzz surrounding the stream.

For destinations like Jamaica, that shift could prove especially valuable among Gen Z travellers, many of whom now rely heavily on creators across YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, and Instagram when deciding where to travel.
