JEP Targets $3 Million For Child Cancer Care At Annual 5K

Hundreds of runners, walkers and wheelchair participants are expected to lace up this Saturday as the Jamaica Energy Partners (JEP) Group aims to raise $3 million to boost cancer care for Jamaican children and their families.

The company's annual RAYZ for Life Cancer Awareness Campaign 5K Run, Walk and Wheel takes place on Saturday, July 18, starting at 6:00 a.m. at the Shortwood Football Field, with participants completing the 5K route along Norbrook Loop.

The fundraising event, now in its fifth staging, is the flagship initiative of JEP's RAYZ for Life campaign, which promotes cancer awareness while mobilising support for oncology care across Jamaica.

This year's event is being held under the theme "Finishing What We Started", with proceeds earmarked for oncology care for children and families.

According to JEP, last year's campaign supported the Oncology Department at Bustamante Hospital for Children, and the company is now seeking to raise an additional $3 million to further strengthen those services.

Since its launch in 2022, the RAYZ for Life campaign has raised nearly $6 million, benefiting the Oncology Department at Bustamante Hospital for Children, the Oncology Unit at Kingston Public Hospital, the Hope Institute, and Spanish Town Hospital, which received $800,000 in 2024 despite the event being postponed.

The event has attracted sponsorship from several local and international companies.
