Jamaican Coca-Cola winners heading to Atlanta for Morocco-Haiti World Cup clash

Clarendon

Two Jamaican women are getting ready for an emotional football trip after being named grand-prize winners in Coca-Cola Jamaica’s ‘Score with Coca-Cola’ promotion.

Tashaa Catnott and Brenda Morgan, who were celebrated at a handover event with Coca-Cola Jamaica representatives, will receive an all-expenses-paid visit to Atlanta, Georgia, to attend the FIFA World Cup’s final Group Stage match between Morocco and Haiti. The moment brought laughter, tears and wide smiles as both women toasted the win with Coca-Cola.

For Catnott, 28, the prize carries meaning that reaches well beyond the stadium. She said the win has stirred memories of her late father and the football connection they shared while she was growing up.

“My dad passed in 2017. While growing up, football was always something we connected over. I was born on November 9, 1997, and Jamaica qualified for the World Cup a week later. He used to joke that I was his little good luck charm,” Catnott reflected.

That family link continued in her home, where a photograph of the historic Reggae Boyz squad stayed on display for years. For Catnott, it stood as both a reminder of Jamaica’s football milestone and a treasured personal memory.

“Coincidentally, my stepdad is also a big fan of football, and we’d also watch matches together. I’ll be taking him on the trip with me. He’s really excited as it’s something he thought he’d never get to experience,” Catnott said.

Morgan said she is looking forward to more than the football match, describing the trip as a chance to enjoy the atmosphere, people and sights that come with the journey.

“I’m really looking forward to soaking in the culture — being around people who are just as excited to watch the match and to do some sightseeing,” Morgan shared.

She said Atlanta will be a new destination for her, and the experience also takes her back to memories of football in Aenon Town, Clarendon, where she was raised.

“I’ve never been to Atlanta before, so I can’t wait. I watch football occasionally, and it reminds me of my childhood days when people in Aenon Town, Clarendon (the community where I was raised), would have friendly football competitions. Honestly, I’m just a girl looking forward to the whole experience; this kickstarts what I hope will be a great summer,” she added, noting that she’ll be sharing the experience with her stepbrother.

On June 24, Catnott and Morgan will join other winners from Latin America for the Morocco versus Haiti fixture. Although the crowd will include fans from across the world, Morgan said her support is already decided.

“I’m rooting for Haiti,” Morgan said with a smile. “It is important to me to support our island’s neighbours, so I’ll definitely be cheering for them.”

The Coca-Cola promotion ran from February to April and asked customers to buy Coca-Cola Original or Coca-Cola No Sugar, send codes through WhatsApp and enter for instant prizes as well as the grand-prize trip.

Victoria Cameron, Marketing Coordinator at Coca-Cola Jamaica, who posed with both winners during the celebratory presentation, said the company wanted the campaign to connect football fans with major global moments.

“Coca-Cola’s partnership with FIFA has been a longstanding one — since 1974. We always try to incorporate the love of football, which has a way of bringing people together in the most powerful way, and this is also what our brand stands for, sharing memorable moments. Hearing the stories behind each winner, we couldn’t be more proud to give them the chance to be part of that global moment, not just as spectators, but as participants in something truly special,” said Victoria Cameron, Marketing Coordinator at Coca-Cola Jamaica.
