
Authorities in Westmoreland are looking into the shooting death of a 30-year-old man in the Akindoen section of White House on Friday afternoon.
The dead man has been named as Jason Wright, who lived in Whitehall, Negril.
Community members say that shortly after 4 p.m., a burst of loud blasts, thought to be gunfire, echoed from one part of the district. Residents went to see what had happened and found Wright on the roadway with several bullet wounds, bleeding heavily.
Law enforcement was alerted and officers rushed Wright to hospital. He was later pronounced dead while receiving treatment.
Investigators from the White House Police Station are examining the circumstances of the killing and pressing ahead with efforts to identify the persons behind the attack.
