Ballroom fundraiser at Jamaica Pegasus to aid JCF Convalescence Home

Patrons attending this year’s Elegance: The Ballroom Experience will help fund care for injured and recovering police officers, as organisers channel some of the event’s earnings to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Convalescence Home in Black River, St Elizabeth.

The gathering runs on Sunday from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel. Organisers are billing an evening of vintage sounds, polished dress and ballroom dancing tied to a charitable aim.

Promoter Isaiah Laing said backing the JCF Convalescence Home sits at the heart of what the night is meant to achieve.

“We wanted Elegance to be more than just a great night out. The men and women of the Jamaica Constabulary Force dedicate their lives to serving and protecting us, and this is one way we can give back by supporting those who need care and rehabilitation. Entertainment has the power to make a difference, and we’re proud to use this platform to contribute to such a meaningful cause,” Laing said.

“Elegance is about celebrating life through music, dance and togetherness, but it’s also about giving back to the community. We hope everyone leaves not only with wonderful memories, but also with the satisfaction of knowing they helped support an important institution that serves our country,” he continued.

The playlist will lean on soul favourites from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, aimed at ballroom regulars and fans of older hits. Guests can expect hors d’oeuvres and wine as they dance, with sets from DJ Krazy Kris, DJ Walton Fire, DJ Master Roji and DJ VJ Snow.

Competition prizes include US$1,000 apiece for the Most Elegant Couple and Best Dancer, a romantic dinner for two courtesy of M10, bottles of wine, and further awards during the night.

General admission costs J$10,000 and VIP entry J$15,000. Tickets are on sale online through Touchstone and at selected outlets across Kingston.
