Junior Reid celebrates legacy with ‘Classic Hits Volume 1’

Reggae-dancehall veteran Junior Reid is entering a new chapter of his career by celebrating the journey that has taken him from Kingston to the global stage, preparing a curated compilation of classic hits as a tribute to his longtime supporters.

The forthcoming 20-track project, which marks his 20th album release, blends roots reggae, conscious messages, and modern influences while reflecting the many layers of Junior Reid’s musical journey.

Known for his unmistakable voice, he has built an international legacy through collaborations with stars including Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, and Lil Wayne. His classic “One Blood” also achieved Billboard success, was sampled on The Game’s 2006 track “It’s Okay,” and featured on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas soundtrack, further cementing his influence as a global reggae ambassador.

“These songs are for the people who stood with me from day one. It’s not just music, it’s a gift,” Junior Reid shared. “From Jamaica to everywhere the music reach, the fans are the reason. The Classic Hits Volume 1 is me giving back something real, something they can hold onto.”

Behind the scenes, Junior Reid has remained deeply connected to the culture - continuously writing, recording, and refining the sound that has carried his music across generations. “I actually took a break from recording the material for the new album, to focus on the digital release of the Classic Hits project on my ‘earthstrong’,” Junior Reid added.

“Fans will get the new music later this year. I’m planning for about 14 tracks to be on the next album,” he said.

Junior Reid recently lost his sister Janice Clarke (also known as Janice Reid), who he said, “taught me to be strong and never give up.”

“Janice instill in me, that drive to continue press on through everything. She just lost the physical battle to cancer but her lessons live on,” Junior Reid expressed.

The musical projects will roll out in stages, giving fans a steady stream of new music and experiences, with each release carrying messages of love, struggle, faith, and perseverance. As anticipation builds, Junior Reid is also preparing to take the project on the road with planned performances across the United States, Canada, and Europe in support of reggae and dancehall music.

Junior Reid recently celebrated his 63rd birthday on June 6 and is also set to perform for reggae lovers aboard the Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise scheduled for November 11–16.
