A 23-year-old Kingston woman has been cleared of robbery and firearm-related charges in the Supreme Court after prosecutors accepted that the case could not properly go forward.
Shanice Lynch had been before the court on charges of possession of a prohibited weapon, using a weapon to commit a felony, and robbery with aggravation.
When the case was called, attorney-at-law Rodain Richardson argued successfully that the evidence did not firmly establish Lynch’s participation and that any uncertainty should be resolved in her favour.
The judge accepted the argument and directed that Lynch be formally called on to answer the charges. A not guilty verdict was then recorded.
Lynch, however, remained behind bars because of another criminal matter.
The allegations were that about 6:00 p.m. on September 13, 2025, Lynch placed a delivery order in Denham Town.
The complainant was said to have been taken to a different place by Lynch, who rode with him on his motorcycle.
After they reached that spot, prosecutors alleged, a gunman robbed the complainant of personal items while threatening him.
The incident was reported to the police, and Lynch was later arrested and charged after investigators made enquiries.
Lynch was represented by attorneys Janice Gordon and Richardson.
