Kingston–St Andrew council advances honour names for care home and two roadways
The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) has tabled three separate resolutions that would assign new official names to a state-run adult residential site and two local roads, each linked to a Jamaican figure the council credits with strengthening nearby neighbourhoods.
Under the plans, the Denham Town Golden Age Home would carry the title Edward Seaga Adult Residential Care Facility. An as-yet-unnamed segment that begins where 64 Spanish Town Road meets another route and runs up to a school gate would become John Austin Holmes Way, recognising Mr John Austin Holmes. In the Seaview Gardens Division, Wenchman Road would be redesignated Rodney Price Drive.
The corporation said Mr Seaga, Mr Holmes and Mr Price each made sustained contributions to the growth and welfare of the areas tied to the sites in question. Clerks are to transmit all three resolutions to the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development and to the National Works Agency for the next stages in the statutory process.
